Ministry of National Defense: Several operations in anti-drug and organized crime within a week

Between 12 and 17 August, units and detachments of People’s National Army carried out several operations in the field of combating drugs, organized crime and illegal migration, which reflect the unweaving commitment of our forces to preserving security and peace in the country, the Ministry of National Defense MND said on Wednesday.

“as part of the fight against organized crime and in the dynamics of intense efforts to thwart the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined detachments of the Army  have arrested, in coordination with the various security services, in the 2nd and 3rd Military Regions (RM), (09) drug traffickers and seized (280) kilograms of kif treated that criminal gangs have tried to smuggle across the borders with Morocco, while (21) other drug traffickers were arrested and (32) kilograms of the same drug as well as (38770) psychotropic tablets were seized, in various operations carried out across the different military regions, “says the same source.

“In another context, People’s National Army detachments arrested, in Tamanrasset, In Guezzam, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Djanet, (99) individuals and seized (18) vehicles, (121) power generators, (83) pick hammers, (75) tons of mixed stones and raw gold, as well as quantities of explosives, detonation tools and other equipment used in illegal gold mining operations, while (6254) units of various beverages were seized in Biskra. Similarly, attempts to smuggle quantities of fuel amounting to (9909) liters were foiled in Tebessa, El-Tarf and Souk-Ahras, “added the ministry in its statement.

“In addition, the coastguards have aborted, on the national coast, attempts to emigrate clandestinely of (473) persons aboard home-built craft boats, while (42) illegal immigrants of various nationalities were arrested in Adrar, Tlemcen and Djanet”, concludes the MND in its statement.
