Morocco: Organizing a protest tomorrow in Rabat, coinciding with the appearance of contracting professors before the judiciary

The Committee for Support and Defense of Contracting Professors announced the organization of a protest in solidarity with the teachers and the support executives who will appear, tomorrow, Wednesday, in front of the Court of First Instance in Rabat, coinciding with their presentation to the judiciary, considering what they are exposed to as “a mechanism of curtailing the militancy action of all protest movements and struggle dynamics in Morocco.”

In a statement, the Support Committee, which includes many human rights, political and trade union bodies, called for “the overthrow of the unfair rulings and the suspension of judicial follow-up against contract professors,” stressing the “principal and unconditional” solidarity with them, while calling for participation in the protest before the Court of First Instance in Rabat.

Fifteen contract professors will appear tomorrow, Wednesday, before the Court of First Instance in Rabat, in their first court session against the background of participating in the national protests in Rabat, which their coordination called for last March.

In this context, the Support and Defense Committee for Contracting Professors decided to organize a press conference today, Tuesday, to shed light on the rulings and judicial follow-up against the professors and executives, under the slogan “all in order to drop the unfair rulings and the fictitious judicial follow-up against the professors and the support executives brought before the justice.”

It is worth  noting that at the beginning of last March, the security forces arrested 25 professors during their protest in Rabat, 10 of whom were referred to the Court of Appeal on criminal charges, and 15 others to the Court of First Instance, which prompted the Contract Teachers Coordination to announce the escalation and extension of the national strike for about a month.
