Mujahid Mohamed Righi passes away

Mudjahid Mohamed Righi died at the age of 87, according to the Ministry of Mujahedeen and Rights Holders.

Born in 1935 in the wilaya of Bordj Bou Arreridj, the deceased joined the ranks of the National Liberation Front (FLN), within its political office in Cairo (Egypt), where he continued his studies.

In 1956, he and five of his companions were commissioned by Ahmed Ben Bella to transport weapons from Egypt to Algeria on board the ship Athos, before being arrested off the coast near of Ghazaouet (west of the country).

Following this operation, the moudjahid Righi was imprisoned in the prison of Oran, with the rest of the group, after their condemnation to terms of imprisonment ranging from 5 years to 20 years.

After independence, the deceased joined the ranks of the National Gendarmerie, occupying several positions of responsibility and taking part in several demonstrations and historical activities.

In this painful circumstance, the Minister of Mujahideen and Beneficiaries, Laïd Rebiga presents to the family of the deceased, as well as to his companions in struggle, his sincere condolences and his deep feelings of compassion and sympathy, praying to Allah All- Powerful to grant him His holy mercy and to lend patience and comfort to his people.
