National People’s Assembly: Study of the draft law related to money laundering and terrorist financing and combating them

The Committee of Legal and Administrative Affairs and Freedoms of  National People’s Assembly, chaired by Mr. Zohir Khelladi, the head of the committee, began studying today, Sunday,  the provisions of the draft law amending and supplementing Law No. 05-01 of February 6, 2005 related to the prevention and combating of money laundering and terrorist financing, according to a statement issued by the council.

The source explained that the aforementioned committee had earlier involved a group of experts and specialists in its study of this draft law, which includes 14 articles that mainly deal with reviewing the legal mechanisms to combat the crime of money laundering and terrorist financing and adapting them to Algeria’s international obligations.

It was noted that the study of this project was carried out in the presence of a representative of the Minister of Justice, Keeper of Seals.

The Legal and Administrative Affairs and Freedoms Committee had previously approved, under the chairmanship of Mr. Zohir Khelladi, unanimously, a report prepared regarding a statement made by a new deputy related to cases of inconsistency with the parliamentary term, in accordance with the provisions of Article 6 of Organic Law No. 12-02, which defines cases of incompatibility with the parliamentary term.
