Office of the Council of the Nation meets to examine work agenda during remainder of 2020-2021 session

Speaker of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, chaired on Tuesday, a meeting of the Council’s office devoted to examining the Council’s work agenda during the remainder of the regular parliamentary session 2020-2021, according to a statement issued by the upper house of parliament.

The statement said: “the speaker of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil chaired today, Tuesday, June 22, 2021, a meeting of the Council’s office devoted to examin the Council’s work agenda during the remainder of the regular parliamentary session 2020-2021, including the extrapolation of the legal and regulatory repercussions related to the post legislative elections phase on the running of the current session.”

The meeting also included “a study and exchange of views on the methods and modalities to be followed regarding the issue of renewing the organs and bodies of the Council of the Nation for the year 2021, in accordance with the requirements of the Council’s internal system.”

In this regard, the office of the Council of the Nation decided to “initiate the process while adopting the principle of election in assuming positions of responsibility at the Council’s organs and bodies, provided that the date of the renewal process is determined in coordination and consultation with the parliamentary groups represented in the Council.”

As for June 12 legislative elections, the office of the Council of the Nation renewed its congratulations to citizens for their “spirit of true citizenship and the  priority they granted to the supreme interest of the nation over other considerations,”, calling for “continuing to adhere to the values ​​and ideals of the eternal November 1st and the unification and cohesion of the national ranks, in addition to rallying around the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his national endeavor, along with various state institutions and symbols, and working to deter the parties hostile to Algeria.

The office of the Council of the Nation affirmed – adds the same source – “Algeria’s strong determination to consolidate the pillars of permanent peace in its regional environment with firmness and wisdom, in a way that guarantees that peoples of the region live in peace and prosperity.”
