Olympic games 2020: Algerian boxer Benchebla (91 kg) qualifies for round of sixteen

Algerian boxer Abdelhafid Benchebla (91 kg) qualified for the round of sixteen in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, after defeating today, Saturday, his Uzbek rival Tursunov Sanjar (4-1), at Kokugikan Arena.

The Algerian boxer, who is participating for the fourth time in the Olympic games, will meet, next Tuesday (04:03 Algeria time), Russian Muslim Gadzhimagomedov, who is participating under the Olympic banner.

Meanwhile, female boxer Roumaysa Boualam (51 kg) will enter the competition tomorrow, Sunday (05:30 Algeria time), against her Thai counterpart Jeptung Gotamas. If she qualifies, she will meet the winner between Filipino Mango Irish and Kenyan Ongari Kristen on Thursday.

On the same day, Mohamed Houmeri (81 kg) will face Venezuelan Korbach Barrera Nalik (12.12 Algerian time), and if he reaches the next round, he will meet Cuban Lopez Arlin on Wednesday.

It is worth noting that the boxing program in Tokyo Olympics contains 13 finalists (8 males – 5 women), with the quarter-finals being played on August 1, 2 and 3, while the semi-final matches are scheduled for August 4, 5 and 6, and the finals will be held on August 7 and 8.
