Oran Mediterranean Games 2022: New infrastructures delivery dates confirmed

Delivery date of new sports venues built for Oran Mediterranean Games 2022 have been set, announced Tuesday  Youth and Sport Minister Sid Ali Khaldi, underlining that all operations will be completed by September 2021.

Accompanied by the Secretary of State for Elite Sports, Salima Souakri, and the President of the Algerian Olympic Committee, Abderrahmane Hammad and the Governor of Oran, Messaoud Djari, Mr. Khaldi visited the multiple under construction sports facilities, saying that 40000-seat football stadium will be officially handed over on March 31 2021.

As for the athletics track of this stadium, part of the Bir El Djir sports complex, commitments have been made for it to be delivered next May 31st before the African Athletics Championship (seniors) scheduled from 1 to 5 June.

During his inspection visit of the various construction sites of the sports complex, the minister gave “firm instructions” for the reception, next September 31st, of its two other facilities, namely sport complex hall (6,000 seats) and the water sports center comprising three swimming pools.

The 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games, previously planned for the summer of 2021, has been postponed to 2022 due to Covid-19 pandemic.
