Joint detachments of the National People’s Army were able to arrest 5 elements of support for terrorist groups in separate operations across the national territory, during the period from 06 to 18 July, according to the operational outcome of the People’s National Army.
The same source explained that “in the framework of their noble tasks in defending and securing the national territory against various threats, units and detachments of the National People’s Army carried out, during the period from 06 to 18 July 2021, several operations that confirm the commitment of our armed forces to maintaining security and tranquility in our country.”
In the context of combating organized crime and continuing the “resolute efforts aimed at eliminating the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, joint detachments of the National People’s Army, in coordination with various security services in the second and third military regions, arrested (14) drug dealers and seized (10) quintals and (52,2) kilogram of treated cannabis, in addition to (7,7) kilograms of cocaine, which criminal groups tried to smuggle across the border with Morocco, while (20) other drug dealers were arrested and (51723) hallucinogenic tablets were seized during various operations through other military regions.”
In another context, detachments of the National People’s Army in “Tamanrasset, Ain Gezam, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Djanet, arrested (263) people and seized (38) vehicles, (101) electric generators, (59) pressure hammers, two (02) metal detectors and (62.2 tons) of raw gold mixture, stones, explosives, detonation equipment and other equipment used in illegal gold mining operations, while (11) hunting rifles and (7000) units of various drinks were seized, during separate operations carried out in El Oued, Biskra, Tebessa, Oum El Bouaghi and Bordj Bou Arreridj. Attempts to smuggle large quantities of fuel, estimated at (44,370) liters, were also thwarted in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Tamanrasset, Tebessa, El Tarf and Souk Ahras.
On the other hand, coast guards were able to thwart illegal immigration attempts for (36) people who were on traditional boats in Oran and Annaba, while (329) illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested in Tlemcen, Ghardaia, El Bayadh, Adrar, Djanet and Bachar.
