People’s National Army: Several operations in combating organized crime and illegal immigration within a week

Within the framework of their noble tasks in defending and securing the national territory against various threats, units and detachments of the National People’s Army carried out, during the period from 30 of June to 06 of July 2021, several operations that confirm the commitment of our armed forces to the duty to maintain security and tranquility in our country:

In the context of the fight against terrorism, a detachment of the National People’s Army, during a search operation near the municipality of Al-Farram, in Mila, the fifth military district, seized a rifle (01) traditionally made, two barrels (02) of a hunting rifle and (01) field glasses, in addition to a quantity of ammunition, while the gendarmerie services arrested (07) individuals for their support to terrorist groups during sporadic operations across the national territory.

In the context of combating organized crime and continuing the tireless efforts aimed at eliminating the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, detachments of the People’s National Army, the National Gendarmerie and the Border Guards in the regions of the second and third military regions have arrested (07) drug dealers and seized (07) tons and (30) kilograms of processed cannabis that criminal groups tried to smuggle across the border with Morocco, while (17) other drug dealers were arrested and (26553) hallucinogenic tablets were seized during various operations through other military operations.

In another context, detachments of the People’s National Army in Tamanrasset, Ain Guezzam, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Djanet and Tindouf, arrested (196) people, and seized (20) vehicles, (192) generators, (102) pressure hammers, (06) metal detectors and explosives, as well as other equipment used in illegal gold mining operations, in addition to (15) tons of foodstuffs destined for smuggling, (06) hunting rifles, (1908) bottles of tear gas, (112630) cans of tobacco and (1440) units of various beverages, during separate operations carried out in Constantine, M’sila, Batna, El Bayadh, Oran, Biskra and El Oued. Attempts to smuggle large quantities of fuel, estimated at 15077 liters, were also thwarted in Tebessa, El Tarf, Souk Ahras, Oran, and Tindouf.

On the other hand, the Coast Guard managed to thwart illegal immigration attempts for 317 people, including (37) immigrants of Moroccan nationality, who were on traditional-made boats in Ain Temouchent, Oran, Tlemcen, Mostaganem, Chlef and El Tarf, while 482 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested in Tlemcen, Ouargla, El Bayadh, Saïda and Djanet.
