President of the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games: Oran games will be broadcast in at least eight countries

The Mediterranean Games (2022), scheduled in Oran from June 25 to July 6, will be broadcast in at least eight Mediterranean countries, as affirmed by the President of the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games, David Tisano.

After being postponed by one year due to the repercussions of the outbreak of the Corona virus “Covid 19”, which resulted in the postponement of many international sports evenst in various disciplines, the Oran Games are slowly approaching their date, to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games, which is keen to  make sure the use of all its capabilities in order to produce successful games at all levels, as part of its permanent endeavor to raise the level of this Mediterranean competition.

In a statement to APS, the President of the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games, Mr. David Tisano, said: “We have deliberately waited for several weeks before conducting this dialogue, in order to officially announce that for the first time, the rights of broadcasting the Mediterranean Games have been sold to the (Eurovision Sport network ) which will, in turn, broadcast the competition activities across at least eight countries so far, while waiting for other countries to join, hoping to raise this number to 12 countries.

With the experience gained over 60 years of activity in the promotion and of sport for the benefit of the general audience at the international level, the Eurovision Sport Network – which specializes in the rights to broadcast sports competitions – will guarantee access to the public broadcasters of the European Radio and Television Union, for all federations, Either from Europe or from outside Europe.

On its official website, Eurovision has identified the TV channels that have acquired the TV rights for the Oran Games. These include Albania Radio and Television, Anadora Radio and Television, Bosnia Radio and Television, CBC (Cyprus), France Television, Greece Radio and Television, RTB (Portugal) and TRT Turkey “.

For his part, the sports broadcasting rights official for summer sports at the level of “Euro News Sports”, Andreas Aristodemo, underlined that “his body, which is  mobilized along with the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games in order to well promote the Oran competition, will take advantage of the TV, radio and digital channels of the European Union to ensure media coverage.” Giving that  the important thing for this media body is to make this sporting event a unique space that brings together athletes from Europe, Africa and Asia, which allows us to involve all the members of the Mediterranean countries.”

In order to protect the Mediterranean Games and its image, David Tisano confirmed that the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games had made great diplomatic efforts to postpone the holding of the 2022 African Nations Handball Championship, whose date coincided with the Mediterranean Games in Oran.

He stressed, “We used all possible channels, including my personal meeting with the President of the International Handball Federation in order to postpone the date of holding the African Handball Championship (..) We succeeded in the end in raising the banner of the organizing committee of the Mediterranean Games (Oran 2022).

It should be noted that the African Nations Handball Championship, which was scheduled for the period from January 13 to 23 and then from June 22 to July 2, in Morocco, will eventually be held in Egypt from July 11 to 18, 2022.
