President of the Republic affirms that his biggest concern at the present time is to implement all his commitments to the people

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed that his biggest concern at the present time is to implement his 54 commitments to the Algerian people during the remaining two years of his presidential term, stressing that the people “are the ones who rule” in the end.

In his regular meeting with representatives of the national media, which was broadcast yesterday Thursday, the President of the Republic responded to a question about his possible candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections, saying that talking about a second presidential term is premature, while indicating that his interest is focused implementing his commitments and that everything will come in due time.

In this regard, the President of the Republic stressed that he is keen to implement the reforms promised to the Algerian people as quickly as he deems necessary in order to “change the situation”, acknowledging that the pace at which he works is sometimes faster than that of some ministerial sectors which take time to absorb and adapt, indicating that “the evaluation of the government team is done according to the results”.

In the same context, he stressed that 2023 will be the year of enshrinement and consolidation of the achievements made, with a view to reaching a real new Algeria, expressing his complete dissatisfaction with what has been implemented to date.

He recalled what had been achieved in recent years, based on the constitution, which “changed many things,” such as the ethics of public life and the appreciation of the role of the associative movement and youth, adding that this endeavor “put the train back on the track after a deviation of more than 30 years.”

In a related context, the President of the Republic renewed the state’s determination to continue fighting corruption, especially with regard to recovering looted and smuggled funds, revealing that nearly $20 billion has been recovered so far inside the country.

On the economic issue, he said that the next year will culminate in Algeria’s entry into the “BRICS” group, highlighting that China, Russia and South Africa welcomed the decision.

In another context, the President of the Republic affirmed Algeria’s readiness to export its surplus production of electricity to Europe, in light of the energy crisis the old continent is going through.

With regard to gas, he stressed the necessity of doubling the discoveries in this field in order to raise the volume of exports from about 53 billion cubic meters currently to nearly 100 billion cubic meters.

Regarding Algeria’s foreign policy, President Tebboune stressed that the Algerian diplomacy is based on the principles of peace and the rejection of peoples’slavery.

The President of the Republic spoke about the Algerian-French relations, which he said are characterized by equality without relinquishing the file of memory, praising the security cooperation between the two countries at the highest level, which was known as a “big step”.

On the other hand, he announced his upcoming visit to both Russia and China, while Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is expected to visit Algeria, which has “very good” relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

On the Palestinian issue, the head of state expressed his hope that all peace-loving Arab countries would participate with Algeria during 2023, within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly, “so that Palestine becomes a state with full rights within the United Nations.”

While affirming Algeria’s sincere commitment to Arab reunification, the President of the Republic considered that the Arab summit that Algeria hosted last November represented a real start for the reform of the Arab League.
