President of the Republic: Algeria will never host foreign military bases

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, confirmed, today, Sunday, that Algeria will not enable any country to establish military bases on its national soil “whatever those countries are.”

The President of the Republic said, during his regular meeting with representatives of some national media, broadcast on Sunday evening, that “Algeria will not allow any country, whoever it is, to establish a military base on the national soil, because our land is sacred and out of respected to our martyrs, there will be no foreign military bases here.”

The President of the Republic reiterated that Algeria’s policy in this regard is “well-known, clear and transparent, and everyone is well aware of it,” and it is “a policy that stems from solid and firm principles.”

In response to a question regarding the participation of People’s National Army in military operations outside the country, the President of the Republic said that “our policy and our view in this regard is not to enter such swamps, we have a proper army, not a crowd, and we will not sacrifice our troop for money like mercenaries do, so for any similar operation, we need the approval of our army personnel and the approval of its representatives through People’s National Assembly.”
