President of the Republic: any ministerial reshuffle must be “effective”

President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed, Saturday evening, that any ministerial reshuffle must meet the criterion of “efficiency” in order to achieve a rapid implementation of the decisions taken in the Council of Ministers.

During his periodic meeting with representatives of the national press, the President of the Republic raised the possibility of carrying out a ministerial reshuffle, pointing out that the expected objective is to achieve efficiency in the implementation of decisions taken in the Council of Ministers and at government meetings.

Affirming that the majority of ministers “are driven by good will”, he noted that experience “is acquired through practice and perseverance”.

Some ministers have ‘failed’ in the performance of their duties, he remarked, noting that the cabinet reshuffle, if it were to take place, will be done ‘according to the results of each sector’, the norm being “the rate of application of the decisions taken during the Council of Ministers”.

As for the ministerial departments that succeeded in implementing the decisions of the Council of Ministers, the President of the Republic cited the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security which proved, “only two weeks after the holding of the Council of ministers, his readiness to implement the measures linked to unemployment benefits on the ground, before continuing with the issuance of Chifa cards for the benefit of the unemployed, an operation which is continuing at the present time”.
