President of the Republic expresses optimism that 2023 will be the year of solution to the Libyan crisis

President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, expressed, today, Wednesday in Algiers, his hope that 2023 will be the “year of solution” to the Libyan crisis, stressing that all friendly and sisterly countries have realized that “the only solution goes inevitably through elections.”

In a joint statement with the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mr. Mohamedd Younes Al-Manfi, after the talks that brought them together at the headquarters of the Republic, the President of the Republic said: “We hope that 2023 will be the year of the resolution of the Libyan crisis and the end of the tragedy for the Libyan people, enabling sisterly Libya to recover stability, exploiting its wealth, and moving towards progress and prosperity.”

He added, “We are optimistic, because all friends in Europe and abroad, even brothers, are certain today that the solution in Libya goes inevitably through elections and according to what the Libyans themselves decide and without interference from any party.”

The President of the Republic stressed: “We are all mobilized for the sake of the comfort of the Libyan people and the stability of Libya,” in the management style and in the new phase chosen by the Libyan people alone, noting that Algeria’s position has not changed towards the situation in Libya, as it advocated for a “Libyan solution to be the only one who can achieve stability and prosperity in Libya, which is to enable the Libyan people to choose whomever they want and give legitimacy to those who represent them across the world through elections.

On the same occasion, the President of the Republic spoke about the historical relations between Algeria and Libya, pointing out that the two brotherly peoples celebrated a few days ago the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Essen to which the Algerian state gave it special importance, in recognition of the sacrifices of the Libyan people alongside their Algerian brothers during the glorious liberation revolution.
