President of the Republic extends condolences to the family of Abdelhamid Zouba

President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent a condolence message to the family of Abdelhamid Zouba, a former player of the national football team of the National Liberation Front (FLN) and a former national coach, died Wednesday evening at the age of 87, the presidency of the Republic said in a statement.

“Fate wanted to be recalled to Almighty Allah one of our national athletes, the late Abdelhamid Zouba, May God rest his soul,” President Tebboune wrote in his condolence message.

“In his passing, Algeria and the national sports scene have lost one of our sports champions who shone in many sports club abroad, raised the national flag high under the banner of the National Liberation Front and made the voice of the fair national cause loud.”

After independence, the late Zouba “continued his sports career at the head of Algerian sports clubs and as coach of the national team in successive periods,” the president of the Republic said.

“In this painful ordeal, I would like to extend, to the sports family, my heartfelt condolences and deep feelings of compassion and sympathy, praying Almighty Allah to grant him his mercy and receive him in paradise. Surely we belong to Allah and to him we shall return,” the condolence message concluded.
