President of the Republic gives instructions Minister of Commerce to sensitize traders and civil society on anti-speculation law

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, gave instructions and directives today, Sunday, while presiding over the cabinet meeting, on the draft law on the fight against speculation, , according to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic.

The statement indicated that with regard to the draft law on fighting against speculation, the President gave instructions and directives to review the Penal Code, to keep pace with the new conception of severe penalties, especially those approved to combat speculation, which amount to 30 years in prison and life imprisonment in some cases.

The President also instructed the Minister of Commerce with sensitizing traders and civil society about the anti-speculation law and explain it to citizens through the media, to distinguish between organized storage for commercial purposes, and storage for the purpose of creating scarcity, or raising prices, in addition to highlighting the importance of the responsible role of civil society and the media in combating unfair commercial practices, in addition to promoting rational consumer behavior, to fight parasites and those who seek to raise prices in order to sow chaos and create despair.
