President of the Republic highlights Algeria’s approach to establishing a new economic system that guarantees parity and equality among countries

President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, highlighted, today, Friday, Algeria’s approach to establishing a new economic system that guarantees parity and equality among different countries.

The President of the Republic said in his speech, via videoconference, at the high-level dialogue session on global development: “In the beginning, I would like to congratulate the President of the friendly People’s Republic of China and the sponsor of this meeting and his country for assuming the presidency of the BRICS group, praising your successful choice of the topics on the agenda of this session, which we consider very important in this circumstance.

He added that “the tension and crisis in international relations today stops us all, not only in view of the size of global governance, but also the challenges of the current conditions facing efforts to bring peace, end conflicts and advance sustainable development, but also because of the dangers of polarization that it generates and the signs it reflects of reshaping power balances on the international scene and shaping the new international order.

The President of the Republic added, “There is no doubt that what we have witnessed from previous experiences proves that the imbalance in the international arena and the continued marginalization of developing countries within the various institutions of global governance constitutes a sure source of instability, inequality and development.”

It is no coincidence – President Tebboune continues – that “such interactions bring to mind and to the surface the proposition made by Algeria nearly 50 years ago about the necessity of seeking to establish a new economic system that guarantees parity and equality among the various countries”.

Meanwhile, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, addressed the efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in various parts of the world, saying: “It is certain today that the underdevelopment of economic growth in many developing countries is not only an internal issue, but it derives its roots from a flagrant imbalance in the structure of international economic relations and the existing hegemony for the benefit of a group of countries.”

In this context, he stressed, “Breaking this vicious circle will only take place by relying on the spirit, principles and objectives of the important resolutions adopted by the international community during the General Assembly of the United Nations, foremost among which is Resolution No. 3201 containing the Declaration on the Establishment of a New International Economic Order based on equity and equality in sovereignty, as well as on mutual and integrated interests and cooperation among all countries.

In a related context, the President of the Republic stated that “Algeria, which celebrates this year the 60th anniversary of the recovery of its national independence and sovereignty, confirms the continuity of its struggle to uphold these important principles and achieve its goals towards building a new international order that includes our collective security based on the stability and prosperity of each of us.”

He continued in this regard, saying: “(None of us is safe until we are all safe), is the sentence that we all repeated to rid our individual and collective experiences in the face of various current challenges from epidemics, climate change, water scarcity, nutrition crisis and renewed security threats, and therefore today we have a responsibility to implement its content in order to achieve our common goals of security and prosperity in light of solidarity and harmony.”

On the same occasion, the President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, expressed his sincere congratulations to Algeria on the occasion of its celebration of the 60th anniversary of the recovery of its national sovereignty.
