President of the Republic honors his Italian counterpart

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, honored, yesterday evening, Saturday at the People’s Palace (Algiers), to the President of the Italian Republic, Mr. Sergio Mattarella, who is on a two-day state visit to Algeria at the head of an important delegation.

During the dinner banquet hosted by the President of the Republic in honor of his Italian counterpart, the two presidents exchanged decorations, where President Tebboune awarded his Italian counterpart the medal of national merit.

Likewise, President Mattarella awarded the President of the Republic the Medal of Italian National Merit.

In a speech, the President of the Republic considered the visit of his Italian counterpart to Algeria, “a unique occasion in which we recall our common history, which inspired the reality of qualitative relations” between the two countries and which confirms, as he added, “our determination to work together, in order to advance them to broader horizons.”

The President also pointed out that Algeria and Italy are two countries “connected in the memory of human civilization, with a legacy rooted in the depths of history and with heroic exploits and firm positions that have shaped the history of the Mediterranean region from ancient times until our contemporary history.”

Emphasizing the importance of the multidimensional bilateral relations linking Algeria and Italy, the President of the Republic addressed President Mattarella saying: “Your visit ushered in a new era marked by the common ambition that prompts us to build the edifice of our bilateral relations and impart a new dynamism to all aspects of dialogue and strategic cooperation.” This is “based on the gains achieved by the Algerian-Italian partnership, especially within the framework of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Good Neighborliness, which has brought the two countries together for 18 years.”

The talks that brought together the two Presidents allowed “to raise the ceiling of our ambition to expand the areas of cooperation and the horizons of economic relations based on mutual benefit,” says the President, who stopped at the agreements concluded between the two parties during this visit, which is “only an affirmation of our common will to embody the goals and our commitment in order to strengthen the bonds of friendship” and “extend channels of dialogue between our two friendly peoples,” as the President of the Republic emphasized. Still within the framework of the honor accorded to the guest of Algeria, the President of the Republic gave his Italian counterpart a purebred Arab horse.

On this occasion, the two presidents took a souvenir photo with the symphony orchestra that played during the dinner.

As a reminder, the visit of President Mattarella falls within the framework of strengthening the partnership and the close relations of cooperation between the two friendly countries and opening new horizons for the benefit of the two peoples.
