Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra was received on Monday evening, upon his arrival in Cairo, by the President of the State of Palestine, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, to whom he presented an invitation sent by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune to participate in the work of the 31st Arab Summit scheduled in Algiers on November 1 and 2, 2022, indicates a press release from the ministry.
Mr. Lamamra conveyed during this audience “the greetings of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to his brother President Mahmoud Abbas, reiterating Algeria’s constant commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and its aspiration for the active role of the State of Palestine in the success of this important Arab meeting”, according to the same source.
For his part, “President Mahmoud Abbas expressed his thanks to his brother President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for his permanent support for the Palestinian cause, saying he was proud to see the State of Palestine, the first country to be officially invited to participate in the Algiers Summit, which confirms the centrality of the Palestinian cause placed at the heart of the priorities of the common Arab action”, added the statement of the ministry.
“The Palestinian President reaffirmed his determination to participate in the Summit and to contribute, alongside his brothers, the leaders of the other Arab states, to the success of its work through the achievement of qualitative conclusions that commensurate with the aspirations of the Arab peoples”, continues the same source.
“The meeting was an opportunity to review the latest developments in the Palestinian cause, in particular the prospects for strengthening Palestinian unity, in the light of the initiative launched by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and whose concretization was launched during the meeting which brought together in Algiers President Mahmoud Abbas and the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Movement Hamas, Ismaïl Haniyeh, on the occasion of their participation in the commemorative festivities of the 60th anniversary of the recovery of national sovereignty, an initiative falling within the framework of the completion and support of the dedicated steps taken by a number of brotherly Arab States in this context”.
