The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, sent a message of condolences to the family of the artist Saloua, Fettouma Lemitti of her real name, who died on Thursday at the age of 86 years following a long illness.
“The artistic community has just lost a great name of this generation who shone with her artistic career and enriched the cultural landscape with a work of dazzling creativity linked to our rich and varied musical heritage,” wrote President Tebboune.
He added: “It is with profound sadness that we bid farewell to a singer who belongs to a generation that has carried the love of the country and shown it at international events, a generation that is proud of its uniqueness and authenticity.
“The late was an authentic Algerian voice imbued with patriotism. In this painful ordeal, I offer my sincere condolences to the relatives of the deceased and to the Algerian artistic community, praying to Almighty God to grant her His holy mercy and to welcome her into His vast paradise among the pious”, concluded the Head of State.
