
President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ordered today, Sunday during a cabinet meeting to continue enriching the draft law on freedom of association and the exercise of the trade union right, taking into account a number of directives, including “stopping trade union roaming and not mixing union and political practice.”
With regard to the draft law on freedom of association and the exercise of the trade union right, which was discussed during the cabinet meeting, the President of the Republic instructed the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security to continue enriching this important project aimed at organizing union work.
In this regard, the President of the Republic made a number of directives stating that this draft law should be “a regulator of trade union practice and to eliminate the negative accumulations witnessed by the country in this field” with “a clearer and more accurate definition of the modalities of establishing trade unions, the conditions for joining them, and the sectors covered by the exercise of the trade union right.”
It also included “with a chapter on the concept of strike in the field of work and defining its legal conditions and controls,” with an emphasis on “stopping trade union roaming and not mixing union and political practice,” given that each field has its “clear legal framework.”
