President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ordered today, Sunday, while presiding over an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers devoted to the 2023 draft Finance Law, the authorization for citizens to import cars of less than three years and for manufacturers to import and sell cars in Algeria, in addition to submitting the book of specifications for car dealerships, at the next cabinet meeting, to be settled “before the end of the year.”
According to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic, President Tebboune gave directives and instructions to “open the way for citizens to import cars of less than three years,” provided that this import is done with “their financial means and for their own needs, not for commercial purposes.”
He also gave instructions to “allow foreign manufacturers to import cars to sell them in Algeria” in parallel with “the diligent and field follow-up of the process of establishing a real automobile industry in Algeria as soon as possible.”
