The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, sent a message on the eve of the celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
In his message addressed on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the President of the Republic extended his warm greetings and underlined Algeria’s constant position of principle in support of the Palestinian people’s fight for the recovery of their despoiled rights, although guaranteed by international legality.
The celebration of this day is a clear confirmation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to the establishment of their independent state with El-Quds as its capital. It is also an opportunity to remind the international community of its historical, political, legal, moral and humanitarian responsibilities towards this people.
The Palestinian people need to see this international solidarity translated into practical steps and enforceable measures, which requires a serious and firm stand by the international community, particularly the Security Council and the General Assembly, not only to end to the stubbornness of the occupier and its refusal to respect international legality and decisions, but also by speaking out effectively and strongly against the settlement system through which the occupier undermines all opportunities of the establishment of the two-state solution, thus giving rise to a bitter reality of discrimination and double standards.
President Tebboune reiterate on the occasion, the call for the imperative application of the provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention and other international legal references based on the principles of accountability and equality before international justice by activating the necessary mechanisms for legal and penal proceedings against the growing abuses of the occupier and guaranteeing international protection for the defenseless Palestinian people.
He added that during the Arab Summit held recently in Algiers, the Palestinian cause was placed as the first central cause with regard to the current international situation. The head of state underlined Algeria’s attachment and absolute support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to freedom, self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State on the basis of the borders of June 4, 1967, with El- Quds Al Sharif as its capital”.
