President of the Republic arrives in Rome

President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune arrived Wednesday in Rome, for a three-day State visit at the invitation of President Sergio Mattarella of Italy.

President Tebboune was welcomed upon his arrival in the Leonard Da Vinci international airport of Rome by Italian minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di-Maio, the ambassador of Algeria to Italy and members of the Arab and African diplomatic corps accredited to Rome.

The president of the Republic’s plane was escorted by two fighter jets of the Italian Air Force, as a welcome.

President Tebboune is leading a ministerial delegation made up of the minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, the minister of Energy and Mining,  the minister of Public Works, the minister of Transport, the minister of Culture and the deputy minister to the Prime Minister for Economy, Knowledge and Start-up.

President Tebboune will meet on Wednesday members of the Algerian community living in Italy and listen to their concerns and proposals.

The State visit has a “special importance in strengthening the relations of historic friendship” between the two countries and “the bilateral ties in several fields, including the economic aspect, in line with the new vision adopted by the two leaders,” the presidency of the Republic said Tuesday in a statement.

The common vision, the Foreign minister added, is aimed at “giving a fresh impetus to dialogue and strategic cooperation between the two neighbouring and friendly countries.”
