
President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired, today Saturday, over the award ceremony of the President of the Republic’s Prize for Professional Journalists, the 7th edition of which has as its theme “information between freedom and responsibility”.
The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired on Saturday the award ceremony of the 7th edition of the President of the Republic’s Prize for Professional Journalists, under the theme “information between freedom and responsibility”.
The ceremony took place at Palais du Peuple in the presence of the President of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, the President of People’s National Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali, the Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, the President of the Constitutional Council, Kamel Fenniche, Lieutenant General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of People’s National Army (ANP), the Minister of Communication, Ammar Belhimer, as well as members of the government, advisers to the President of the Republic, senior officials and journalists.
During the ceremony, which coincides with the National Media Day, celebrated on 22 October each year, the winning journalists were honoured with this prize, which is “a recognition of the militant career of Algerian journalists during the National Liberation War and a tribute to the professionals of the national media, both printed and broadcast, and as a consecration of the citizen’s right to an objective and credible information”.
It also aims to “promote national journalistic production” and “encourage creativity and professionalism in media, fostering a culture of merit”, in addition to rewarding the best articles and media reports produced individually or collectively in relation to the theme of the prize.
The prize categories are written information (feature article, review, editorial, report or investigation), television information (report, investigative report, documentary, filmed news report), radio information (news programme, report and investigation), electronic media (best work of information broadcast on the Internet) and illustration (photography, drawing and press caricature published by a national media organisation).
