President of the Republic meets one-on-one with his Italian counterpart

President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, spoke on Thursday in Rome one-on-one with his Italian counterpart, Mr. Sergio Mattarella.

The talks that took place at the Presidential Palace of the Quirinal were extended to the delegations of the two countries.

A solemn welcome had been reserved for President Tebboune at the Quirinal Palace on the part of his Italian counterpart, Mr. Sergio Mattarella, in accordance with Italian customs.

After listening to the national anthems of the two countries, the two Presidents reviewed a detachment of the Italian Republican National Guard which paid them the honours.

President Tebboune then greeted the senior Italian officials who had come to welcome him and took a souvenir photo with his Italian counterpart.

The President of the Republic arrived in Rome on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to Italy, at the invitation of President Mattarella.

On the first day of his visit, President Tebboune met representatives of the Algerian community established in Italy and listened to their concerns and proposals.

President Tebboune is accompanied by a ministerial delegation made up of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Energy and Mines, Public Works, Transport, Tourism and Handicrafts, Culture and the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of the Knowledge Economy and Start-ups.

This state visit is of “particular importance in strengthening historic ties of friendship and strengthening bilateral relations in many areas, particularly the economic aspect, within the framework of a new vision of the two Presidents aimed at instilling new dynamic for dialogue and strategic cooperation between the two neighboring and friendly countries”, said a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.
