President Tebboune officially inaugurates the new Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune inaugurated on Thursday in Algiers, the new stadium of Baraki which bears the name of the South African leader, the late Nelson Mandela.

Upon his arrival at this stadium, which will host matches of the 7th edition of the African Championship of Nations for local players (CHAN 2022), scheduled from 13 January to 4 February 2023, President Tebboune was welcomed by the Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), General Saïd Chanegriha, the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Territorial Development, Brahim Merad, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Abderezzak Sebgag and the Wali of Algiers, Abdennour Rabehi.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Nelson Mandela’s grandson, International Football Federation (FIFA) President Gianni Infantino, Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe, Algerian Football Federation (FAF) President Djahid Zefizef and Algerian Olympic and Sports Committee (COA) President Abderrahmane Hammad.
