Prime Minister: Algerian exports outside hydrocarbons reaches a level not recorded since independence

Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane confirmed today, Thursday, that Algerian exports outside hydrocarbons have reached a level not recorded by the country since independence.

In a statement to the press, following the approval of the Council of The Nation on the text of the Finance Law for the year 2022, Mr. Benabderrahmane considered that the law enshrines the principle of rationalization of state expenditures in a way that supports economic recovery, whose “features are beginning to appear on the horizon”, reducing the dependence on hydrocarbons in terms of income in the currency.

He added: “This positive trend is translated through exports outside hydrocarbons, which have reached levels that Algeria has not reached since the independence, as well as through economic growth that witnessed levels that our country has not achieved since several eras.”

Exports outside hydrocarbons at the end of last September amounted to $3.4 billion, while they are expected to rise to $4.5 billion by the end of this year, compared to levels that did not reach $2 billion during previous years.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister, reiterated that the Finance Law of 2022 “consecrates the principle of social justice and the social nature of the state,” noting that this principle was stipulated in the statement of the first of November 1954 to be enshrined in the Finance Law stemming from the implementation of the comprehensive renaissance program of the President of the Republic.

With regard to the structural reform program, he said that this program has entered “advanced stages, whether in the field of fiscal, budgetary or automated reform,” all of which are pillars that push the national economy to higher levels than it was previously.

He considered that the ratification of the law will motivate the government to work more and spare no effort in order for Algeria to reach the highest levels of growth and “why not the levels of growth of the G20 countries.”

He stressed that Algeria has all the ingredients of human and natural resources for agriculture, mines, fishing and industry in order to enable it to reach advanced levels of development.

The Prime Minister, accompanied by the Speaker of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, and members of the Council, visited an exhibition of El-Mujahid newspaper, which was organized by the Council and included files from the archives under the slogan “El-Mujahid is a long path in the service of the nation.”
