Prime Minister: Approximately 7,500 beneficiaries receive annually unemployment insurance

The Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, affirmed, today, Saturday, in Algiers, that more than 190,000 people who have been dismissed from work have benefited from unemployment insurance at a rate of approximately 7,500 beneficiaries annually since the creation of this social mechanism.

During a public session at the People’s National Assembly, chaired by Speaker Ibrahim Boughali and devoted to answering the questions and inquiries of deputies regarding the draft law of Finance, Benabderrahmane indicated that the beneficiaries of this pension are those who have been unwillingly dismissed from work for economic reasons, either as part of the downsizing of workers or the end of employer’s activity, in accordance with Decree 94-11.

He added that the pension, provided by the National Unemployment Insurance Fund, benefits from a contribution of 1.5 percent of the allocations of the Social Security Fund.

Since its inception, 190,805 workers dismissed from work have benefited from the unemployment pension, i.e. an average of 7,380 beneficiaries annually, according to Benabderrahmane.

As for the unemployment pension, proposed in the framework of the Finance Bill 2022, Benabderrahmane explained that it will be directed to young people looking for work for the first time, who are registered with the National Employment Agency and who are aged between 19 and 40 years.
