Prime Minister calls for concretizing the organic relationship between University and its socio-economic environment

Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad stressed, on Wednesday in Algiers, the need to concretize “the organic relationship” between the university and its socio-economic environment “in order to make it a real locomotive” for the relaunch of the national economy.

During his visit to a student exhibition on digitization and its applications at the University of Algiers 3 “Ibrahim Sultan Cheibout”, organized on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Day of the Student, Mr. Djerad stated that it was “imperative to promote the results of scientific research in the service of the national economy and to establish an organic relationship between the University and its socio-economic environment in order to make it the real locomotive of economic recovery.

In this respect, the Prime Minister called for ” a strong participation of businessmen in the scientific councils of universities and students in boards of directors of companies in order to concretise this relationship on field, notably in the perspective of available human and material capacities “, calling on everyone to contribute to the building of a flourishing Algeria “.

In the same framework, Mr. Djerad called on students to ” perform on-site research in order to find practical solutions to the various problems “, stressing the importance of cooperation agreements between universities and economic partners (public and private) but also with foreign universities for the exchange of experiences and the promotion of the Algerian university.

Referring to the importance given by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the sector of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Prime Minister gave guidelines on the necessary promotion of innovation culture, especially through the availability of human and material resources.

He also highlighted the importance of learning foreign languages, mainly English, and their use in writing scientific articles as one of the most important criteria in international university rankings.

Mr Djerad insisted, in the same context, on the development of digitisation and its applications in the various fields of life, “as an optimal means to achieve the modernisation of institutional management and the fight against the plague of bureaucracy.
