Prime Minister: Gradual lifting of suspension on 50 percent completed infrastructure projects

Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Aïmene Benabderrahme, confirmed on Tuesday in Algeria , the process of gradually lifting the freeze on infrastructure projects completed by more than 50 percent, taking into account the financial possibilities of the state and the feasibility of the projects.

Aïmene Benabderrahme remarks came during a public audience dedicated to responding to the concerns of the members of the National Assembly about the text of the finance law for the year 2022, chaired by Salah Goudjil, Speaker of National Assemby, in the presence of a number of ministers.

“The freeze is one of the measures taken by the public authorities to control public equipment expenditures and to address self-imposed restrictions on financial resources beginning from 2014, ”the prime minister said in response to a concern for members of the National Assembly regarding the launch of frozen infrastructure projects.

The suspension mainly concerns ” projects that have yet to be completed and non-priority projects,” added the Prime Minister.

“Step by step, depending on the development of the financial capabilities of the state, we will lift the freeze on priority projects sectorial or regional ones”, he said.

“The process will continue for infrastructure projects completed at a rate of more than 50 percent, taking into account the status of the state treasury as well as the feasibility of completing the project , basing on a decision of the public authorities ”he added.
