Prime Minister meets with U.S. Secretary of Commerce in Washington

The Prime Minister, Mr. Aimene Benabderrahmane met, Wednesday in Washington, with the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Ms. Gina Raimondo, on the sidelines of his participation in the U.S. / Africa Summit, as representative of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

During this meeting held during the work of the Afro-American Business Forum, the two parties have affirmed the common desire of both countries to strengthen the economic dimension of bilateral relations in order to raise them to the level of political relations between Algeria and the United States.

In this context, the Prime Minister reviewed the reforms carried out in Algeria, following the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune for the improvement of the investment climate and business in the country, which has allowed Algeria to establish itself as an investment destination par excellence.

The two parties discussed the huge investment opportunities offered in the Algerian market through the priorities defined by the Government in its Action Plan for the implementation of the program of the President of the Republic, especially in the sectors of agriculture, infrastructure, energy and renewable energy and ICT.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Raimondo expressed the “great interest” of U.S. operators to invest in Algeria.

The two parties have highlighted their joint efforts to support investors and intensify contacts between businessmen of both countries.

In this context, the two sides agreed to prepare a visit to Algeria of the U.S. Secretary of Commerce at the head of a large delegation of businessmen, scheduled for the first quarter of next year.
