Prime Ministry: Extension of partial lockdown from eight PM to six AM in 37 provinces for 10 days

The partial lockdown, starting from eight o’clock in the evening (20:00 h) until six o’clock (06:00 h) the next morning, has been extended as of tomorrow, Thursday, in 37 provinces for a period of 10 days, according to a statement issued today by the services of the Prime Minister.

The statement said “In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, and following consultations with the Scientific Committee for Monitoring the Evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic and the Health Authority, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, decided to adopt a series of measures to be implemented as part of the Health Crisis Management System related to Coronavirus pandemic.

The partial lockdown is imposed on thirty-seven (37) provinces, namely: Adrar, Laghouat, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, Bejaia, Biskra, Bachar, Blida, Bouira, Tebessa, Tlemcen, Tizi Ouzou, Algiers, Jijel, Setif, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbes, Annaba, Guelma, Constantine, Mostaganem, M’sila, Mascara, Ouargla, Oran, El Bayadh, Boumerdes, Tindouf, Tissemsilt, El Oued, Khenchela, Souk Ahras, Tipasa, Naama, Ain Temouchent, Relizane and Ouled Djelal.

It is worth noting that governors, after the approval of the competent authorities, may take all measures required by the health situation of each province, especially approving, amending, or setting the times of partial or total lockdown targeting a municipality, place, neighborhood or other, which are considered hotbeds of infection.

With regard to the movement of people, the procedure for suspending urban and rail transport activity during weekends is extended in all provinces concerned with the partial lockdown.

With regard to social and economic activities, the closure of the activities frequented by people, which represents a clear risk of transmission of infection in the provinces concerned with the partial lockdown, is extended.

This relates to the following activities: markets for selling used cars, sports and multi-sports halls, youth homes, and cultural centers.

Meanwhile, the activities of coffee shops, restaurants, fast food stores and ice cream shops, are limited to take away service only.

The closing of entertainment, leisure and rest spaces, picnic spots and beaches is extended at the level of the provinces concerned with the partial lockdown, noting that the closure of beaches includes all coastal provinces.

It is worth recalling that the security services are in charge of ensuring the strict implementation of the measures taken in order to preserve the health of citizens and to avoid the spread of the infection.

Finally, the government reminds that the monitoring mechanisms and penalties will always and strictly be applied to anyone who violates the measures to prevent infection and the various health protocols approved by the Scientific Committee for Monitoring the Evolution of Coronavirus pandemic and which are designated for various economic, commercial, and social activities.

It also urges citizens to participate massively in the vaccination campaigns launched across the national territory.”
