Professor Mahiaoui: Partial reopening of air borders is a sound decision that came following the stabilization of the epidemiological situation in the country

Member of the Scientific Committee for the Monitoring of the Evolution of Coronavirus Pandemic, Professor Riad Mahiaoui, said today, Monday, that the decision to partially reopen air borders came as a result of the health reports that were prepared about the epidemiological situation in Algeria and which showed a decrease in the number of cases of Covid 19, adding that this decision is sound and came timely.

Being the guest of the “Algeria Live” program of the Algerian TV news channel 3, Professor Riad Mahiaoui said that the decision to partially reopen the airspace came “after controlling the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic and the stabilization of the epidemiological situation in the country” indicating that “ we must prove that we are currently in control of this pandemic. ”

Professor Mahiaoui affirmed, in this regard, that this decision “will allow Algerians, especially patients, to travel normally and allow our citizens living abroad to enter the country normally and spend the holiday with the approach of the summer season,” he added that this decision “came as a result of health reports on the epidemiological situation in Algeria that showed a decrease in the number  of Covid-19 cases. Therefore, this decision is sound and it came at the appropriate time. We are comfortable with the decision, and so are most of the Algerians.

Meanwhile, the member of the Scientific Committee for the Monitoring of the Evolution of  Coronavirus Pandemic, called on “Algerians inside and outside the country to respond positively to this decision by adapting to this health crisis while complying with  the conditions set by the government,” affirming that this decision “is subject to adjustment based on the development of the epidemiological situation in the country and we must adhere to preventive measures, especially with the emergence of new variants. ”
