Renewal of half of the members of the Council of Nation: 96.21% participation rate

The final participation rate in the elections for the renewal of half of the members of the Council of the Nation reached 96.21%, the Constitutional Court announced on Thursday.

In this regard, the President of the Constitutional Court, Omar Belhadj affirmed that the final rate of participation in the elections, held last Saturday, for the renewal of half of the members of the Council of the Nation and the elections of new members for the new wilayas, had reached 96.21% at the level of the 58 wilayas.

After examination of the appeals, and in accordance with article 241 of the organic law relating to the electoral system, which stipulates that the Constitutional Court proclaims the final results within 10 days from the date of receipt of the provisional results, Mr. Belhadj reported the rejection by his authority of “4 appeals on the form” as well as “the acceptance on the form of a single appeal, received from the wilaya of Ain Témouchent, and its rejection on the merits”.

The number of votes cast amounts to 24,151, while that of rejected ballots is 1,973 ballots.

By political affiliation, the National Liberation Front (FLN) party won the most seats (16), followed by the independents (14 seats) and the National Democratic Rally (RND) with 11 seats, the El-Moustakbal Front and the El-Bina Movement (5 seats), the Socialist Forces Front (FFS), El-Fajr El-Jadid and the Voice of the People (2 seats), the TAJ Rally and the Society Movement for Peace (MSP) with one seat
