16 people died and 487 others were injured in road accidents across different regions of the country during the last 48 hours, the Civil Protection indicated on Saturday.
According to the same source, the heaviest toll was recorded in Ghardaïa province with 3 deaths and 10 injuries in 4 traffic accidents.
The General Directorate of Civil Protection added that its services recorded the death of nine people drowning during the same period in seashores and water parks in Mostaganem, Ouargla, Messila, Chlef, Tizi Ouzou and Umm El Bouaghi provinces.
Civil Protection Units, with regard to its activities related to preventing the spread of the Covid-19 virus, carried out 103 awareness-raising operations across 20 provinces, urging and reminding citizens of the need to respect the quarantine rules, in addition to carrying out 59 sterilization operations across 12 provinces through public facilities and structures, especially residential complexes and streets.
