
Four people died and 162 others suffered various injuries in traffic accidents that occurred during the last 24 hours in several provinces of the country, the civil protection authorities said on Thursday in a statement.
The same authorities also recorded the deaths of 4 members of the same family who died of suffocation after inhaling carbon monoxide gas from a fireplace inside in their house in Ain Arnat, Setif province, involving a woman (38 years), a man (49 years), a girl (8 years) and a two-year-old child (2).
In the same context, the Civil Protection Services intervened to rescue 16 people who had difficulty breathing due to the inhalation of carbon monoxide gas (CO), emitted by heating devices and water heaters in Tizi Ouzou, Tissemsilt, Khenchela and Setif.
With regard to activities related to the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus (covid-19), during the same period, the Civil Protection Units carried out 34 aware-rising operations for citizens urging them to respect social distancing, in addition to carrying out 17 sterilization operations through public and private facilities and structures, as well as residential complexes and streets.
