Seven (7) people died and 431 others were injured in 372 road accidents that occurred in urban areas between 14 and 20 February 2023, according to a report released Thursday by the National Security services.
The report shows an increase in the number of accidents (+46) and the number of injured (+60) as well as a decrease in the number of deaths (-3) compared to the previous week.
The human factor remains the main factor in these accidents (+96%), notably due to the non-respect of traffic rules and safety distance, speeding, fatigue and lack of concentration while driving, in addition to the vehicle condition, according to the same source.
In this context, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) calls on road users to be cautious and respect the highway code, recalling the toll-free number 1548 and the emergency number 17 available to citizens for any report 24/24.
