
The Minister of Mujahideen and Rights-holders, Laïd Rebiga, said Wednesday afternoon in Sakiet Sidi Youcef (Tunisia) that February 8, 1958 “reflects the greatness and nobleness of cohesion images between Algerians and their Tunisian brothers for the defense of the values of law, justice, human dignity, freedom and independence”.
The minister who was supervising with the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Territorial Development, Brahim Merad on the Algerian side and the Minister of Interior, Taoufik Charafeddine and the Minister of Cultural Affairs Hayet Ketat Guermazi on the Tunisian side, the festivities commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Sakiet Sidi Youcef massacres, said that the preservation of these values hoarded by the historical heritage, common to both countries and the transmission of its values to successive generations constitute “a basis to draw inspiration from its overflowing sources that strengthen us to pursue the common journey between the two brotherly countries.

He recalled that 8 February 1958 was “difficult and hard for Sakia and its honourable people and also for revolting Algeria and sister Tunisia with all that the expression of the circumstances and requirements to pass from a previous reality to a later one”.
