Salah Goudjil stresses the importance of coordination between Algeria and Qatar to confront threats to Arab national security

The Speaker of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, stressed, Monday in Algiers, the importance of “close” coordination between Algeria and Qatar to face up to all the threats targetingArab national security and regional stability, according to a statement of the Council.

The source indicated that Mr. Goudjil stressed, during his meeting with the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Algiers, Abdelaziz Ali Ahmed Naama Al-Naama, that “the current common challenges impose the need for close coordination in order to face up to all the threats targeting Arab national security and regional stability,” noting “the firm positions and the principle of Algeria’s foreign policy, especially the principle of the right of peoples to self-determination in accordance with international legitimacy and resolutions.

The two sides also examined many regional and international issues of common interest, stressing the “central character of the just Palestinian cause for the Arab and Islamic world.”

This meeting constituted an opportunity for the two parties to discuss “bilateral relations that link the two sister countries and ways and means to strengthen and push them to the highest levels in line with the endeavors and directives of the leaders of the two countries, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani”.

The “parliamentary cooperation existing between the two parties and the importance of promoting it to keep pace with the dynamic that characterizes the relations between the two countries’ governments through activating parliamentary brotherhood and friendship groups” was also discussed.

This meeting was also an opportunity to congratulate the Qatari ambassador on the occasion of his country’s National Day, celebrated on December 18 each year, wishing him and the brotherly Qatari people further prosperity and well-being.

Mr. Goudjil also congratulated him for “the success of his country in hosting the Arab Cup – FIFA 2021, and for the prestigious and honorable organization that allows Arabs to hold their heads high,”.
