Sheikh of Al-Zawiya Al-Qasimiyah, the head of the Rahmania Association for Scientific Zawiyas, Sheikh Mohamed Al-Mamoun Al-Qasimi called today, Monday, the sheikhs of the Zawiyas, imams of mosques, scholars, preachers and educators to harness their energies in order to preserve the unity of the nation and to thwart the plans of Algeria’s enemies who seek to achieve “subversive schemes and projects that France was unable to achieve.”

In a statement addressed to the Algerian people following the painful events that the country has experienced in recent days, Sheikh Al Qasimi said: “We call upon sheikhs of Zawiyas, imams of mosques, scholars, preachers and educators to harness their energies to preserve the unity of the nation and its spiritual and national values and to establish its comprehensive religious reference and to thwart the plans of Algeria’s open and hidden enemies who try to achieve subversive schemes and projects that France was unable to achieve during the hideous period of occupation.”

Sheikh Al Qasimi considered that the assassination of Djamel Bensmail “came to disturb the atmosphere that prevailed in the country, and which was marked by a spirit of brotherhood, cooperation and solidarity,” calling on everyone to “stand to block the way for those targeting the nation’s unity and to strike hard and firmly at criminals who do only bad things.”

He stressed, in the same context, the need to “be vigilant, renounce hate speech and the sowing of discord and place the nation’s supreme interest above all” considering that this type of criminal act “should not impede the efforts that we have been making with the loyal sons of the nation to ward off strife and bridge the gap and get closer to all the components of the society.
