Sidi M’hamed Court: Hamid Melzi’s case postponed to September 06

The judge of the Economic and Financial Penal Pole of the Court of Sidi M’hamed in Algiers postponed the case of the former Director General of the Sahel State Establishment, Hamid Melzi, to next September 06, at the request of the defense team, judicial sources learned today, Monday.

In addition to the two former Prime Ministers, Ahmed Ouyahia and Abdelmalek Sellal and several executives, Hamid Melzi, who has been in temporary detention since 2019, is being pursued on charges related to misuse of his position in order to grant undue benefits in violation of applicable laws and regulations, and to conclude deals that violate the legislative and regulatory provisions in force for giving undue advantages to others.

The case was expected to be opened today, Monday, August 16, at the same judicial body, after two years of investigation.
