Signature of framework agreements between Sonatrach and 7 universities in the east of the country

Several framework agreements on partnership, exchange of skills and development of scientific inventions focused on hydrocarbons and renewable energy, were signed Thursday in Constantine between the National Company Sonatrach and seven (7) academic institutions in the east of the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of these agreements, the Central Director of Research and Development (R&D) at Sonatrach, Mustapha Benamara, said that the purpose of these partnerships is “to contribute to the development of the government’s strategy inherent in the security and energy transition of the country as well as to build bridges between the academic environment and the economic market.

Sonatrach needs all the experiences of university scholarship in order to develop its production and provide better services via the use of technologies of our Algerian researchers, said the same official, adding that the company will underline the specific difficulties that would be topics for university researchers.

Under these agreements, laboratories and joint research teams, as well as a thematic network of studies will be created with a view to solving problems raised on the ground in oil and gas fields, explained the Director of  Technological Development and Innovation, and representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Hichem Sofiane Salaouatchi.

The agreements aim at creating, in the medium term, a technological pole dedicated to the field of energy through the establishment of an ecosystem that will ease access to Algerian researchers to practical work and will contribute to the development of the national economy.

Sonatrach has also made two fixed-term contracts with the Center for Research in Biotechnology (CRBT) and the National Polytechnic School of Constantine (NPSC) to achieve “in the coming days” the experimentation and collaboration of research groups consisting of professionals of this national company and scientific specialists of these academic institutions.

Agreed within the framework of a study day on research and development opportunities between the partner universities of the Sonatrach Group in the fields of oil and gas, held at the Mariott Hotel in Constantine, These agreements were signed by the Central Director of Research and Development (R&D) at Sonatrach, Mustapha Benamara, and the rectors of the universities of Constantine 1 and 3, Batna 2, Setif, Oum El Bouaghi, Guelma, Jijel, under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Directorate of Technology Development and Innovation.

The workshops organized during this study day by researchers from partner universities have been an economic competitive advantage and have been fruitful in terms of interactivity between varieties of prominent specialists in the country who have expressed the need to implement their studies on the fields of energy resources.
