
Snowfalls are expected to affect, on Wednesday and Thursday, the country’s northern reliefs exceeding 700 and 800 metres in altitude, according to a special meteorological bulletin issued by the National Meteorological Office (ONM) on Tuesday.
The provinces of Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mascara, Relizane, Chlef, Tissemsilt, Ain Defla, Médéa, Blida, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Sétif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Bouira, Tiaret and Saida have been classified as “orange” from Wednesday at noon until Thursday at noon, the bulletin said.
The snow depth will vary between 10 and 20 cm during the period of validity of this bulletin.
The provinces of Naama, El Bayadh, Laghouat and Djelfa have also been put under “orange” vigilance from Wednesday at 6pm until Thursday at 9am, the same source added.
During the period of validity of this bulletin, the snow is estimated to be between 05 and 10 cm deep.
