Sonatrach: Hydrocarbon exports increase by 45 percent end of May 2021

The hydrocarbon exports recorded by Sonatrach during the first five months of 2021 increased by 45 percent compared to the same period in 2020, i.e. from 8.7 billion dollars at the end of May 2020 to 12.6 billion dollars at the end of May 2021, a group official said today, Tuesday.

During a press conference devoted to presenting Sonatrach’s results for 2020 and the first five months of 2021, Sonatrach’s performance management director, Boutaleb Mohamed Rachdi, said that 41 million tons of oil equivalent had been exported until the end of May 2021, compared to 33 million tons of oil equivalent at the end of May 2020.

He added that out of 67 million tons of oil equivalents of hydrocarbons that were marketed during the same period, compared to 58 million tons of oil equivalent at the end of May 2020 (+17 percent), the value of marketed production in the national market reached 27 million tons of oil equivalent in 2020.

The primary hydrocarbon production achieved during the first five months of 2021 amounted to 78 million tons of oil equivalent, compared to 75 million tons of oil equivalent during the same period from

2020 (+4 percent), of which 22 percent is crude oil, 68 percent is natural gas, 5 percent is LPG, and 5 percent is gas condensate.

With regard to the filtration activity, 12.2 million tons of oil equivalent were recorded during the same period, compared to 11.8 million tons of oil equivalent in 2020.

As for imports of refined materials, Sonatrach was able to reduce them from 668 million tons of oil equivalent to 112 million tons of oil equivalent during the same reference period.
