Sonelgaz studies ways to enhance cooperation with its Tanzanian counterpart

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sonelgaz Group, Mourad Adjal, received the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Tanzania to Algeria, Jacob Gideon Kingu, with whom he discussed ways to strengthen relations between the group and its Tanzanian counterpart, as well as the understanding agreements to be signed between the two parties, indicated a press release from Sonelgaz.

During the meeting, held Wednesday at the headquarters of the General Management of Sonelgaz, Mr. Adjal said he was “willing to work with the Tanzanian side, within the framework of a joint working commission responsible for drawing up a roadmap for the implementation of concrete projects as soon as possible,” said the same source.

According to the official, this meeting follows the decisions taken during the meeting, held in October 2021 in Algiers, between the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and the Tanzanian Minister of Energy, January Yusuf Makamba, as part of the consolidation of relations between the two countries and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, particularly in terms of electricity and gas.

For his part, the Tanzanian ambassador expressed his country’s great interest in the Sonelgaz group, in particular for the promotion of investments in Tanzania through the strengthening of the win-win partnership in the field of gas and electricity, added the press release.

The CEO of Sonelgaz also received, on the same day, the leaders of the Turkish company “Ozmert Algeria”, specialized in metallurgy. The meeting focused in particular on aspects related to the connection of the company’s projects to the electricity and gas networks, the group said in its press release.

This meeting is part of the guidelines of the country’s high authorities to encourage foreign investment in Algeria through several measures and facilities aimed at strengthening national capacities for economic recovery.

For the CEO of Sonelgaz, this meeting reflects the quality of relations between Algeria and Turkey, according to the press release.

On this occasion, the leaders of the company “Ozmert Algeria”, based in Bir El-Djir (wilaya of Oran), affirmed that cooperation with the Sonelgaz group according to the win-win principle will be highly beneficial for Algeria, especially since the company is one of the biggest consumers of high voltage energy among its customers, the same source said.
