Two (2) people died after their vehicle skidded and fell into Oued Mellegue dam in the municipality of Taoura (Souk Ahras), according to Civil Protection Directorate.
The secondary unit of Civil Protection, backed by elements of the main unit, intervened on Sunday night following the skidding of car with two people on board (a 55-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman), before falling into the dam of Oued Mellegue located at El Mehras, said the communication officer, Captain Reda Messa.
The efforts of the elements of Civil Protection led to the recovery in a first step of the lifeless body of the woman, the same official said.
According to the same source, the search continued by the team of divers in close collaboration with agents of the Civil Protection led Monday morning to the recovery of the body of the second victim of the accident. The remains of the two victims were taken to the morgue of the hospital in the city of Taoura, added Reda Messa.
This operation required the use of an ambulance, two (2) liaison vehicles and one (1) transmission truck, in addition to ten agents, six divers and two officers, under the supervision of the local sector director, Colonel Zoubir Maâriche.
