Spain: demonstration in Mallorca in support of Saharawi people

The Association of Friendship with the Saharawi People of the Spanish city of Majorca organized, on Sunday, a demonstration of solidarity with the Saharawi people to denounce the position of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on the question of occupied Western Sahara.

The demonstrators expressed their rejection of the “partial” position announced by Pedro Sanchez in favor of Morocco, reiterating their “firm support” for the right of the Saharawi people to freedom and self-determination.

The demonstration saw the participation of a large number of supporters of the Saharawi cause, as well as that of the representative of the Polisario Front in the region, Ahmoudi Labsir, and of the various political currents of the Spanish scene, led by Ramon Urviva, who accompanied the Sahrawi cause for many years, until he was called “The father of solidarity with the Sahrawi people of the Balearic Islands”.

The Balearic Islands are experiencing many popular movements of solidarity with the Saharawi cause and reject the recent decision of the Spanish Prime Minister, while reaffirming the right of the Saharawi people to freely and transparently choose their future.

Last March, the Spanish capital, Madrid, was the scene of massive demonstrations to denounce the position of the Spanish Prime Minister, who supported the plan for Moroccan so-called “autonomy” in Western Sahara and to show absolute solidarity with the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

More than 7,000 people also gathered in front of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and the European Union to denounce Spain’s “sudden” reversal regarding the conflict in the last colony in Africa.
