Speaker of People’s National Assembly Boughali discusses in Bogota with Colombian FM ways to enhance bilateral cooperation

Speaker of People’s National Assembly (APN), Mr. Brahim Boughali, discussed, on Monday in Bogota, with the Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Peace, Alvaro Leyva Duran, the promotion of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Mr. Boughali affirmed that the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune “attaches great importance to supporting and strengthening cooperation relations between Algeria and Colombia in the political and economic fields, given the place that occupy the two countries on the regional and international levels and with the significant potentialities at their disposal”.

He also underlined “the interest shown by Algeria in joining the approach of the new Colombian President aimed at promoting the exchange of experiences and expertise in various fields, such as the fight against corruption, weapons trafficking and climate change”.

The Algerian Assembly “is ready to work for the concretization of all its steps on the ground, by seizing all the opportunities for cooperation offered at the parliamentary level”, he continued.

For his part, the head of Colombian diplomacy “transmitted the sincere greetings of President Gustavo Petro to his Algerian counterpart, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune”, affirming that Mr. Petro “gives particular importance to efforts aimed at promoting relations between the two countries and to give them exceptional dimensions”.

He added that his meeting with Mr. Boughali, “is the first of its kind with the countries of the African continent”, affirming “the great importance he attaches to the consolidation of cooperation relations between the two countries, particularly in the fields of energy, agriculture and trade”.

The Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs has expressed his intention “to broaden discussions with Algeria around all issues of common interest”, concludes the document.
