Table Tennis/African Championship: The two Algerian teams (men and women) qualify for the semi-finals in a competition

The two Algerian teams of table tennis (men and women) qualified for the semi-finals of the 25th edition of the African Championship (seniors), which kicked off on Saturday in the Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic complex, (Algiers).

In the women’s competition by teams, the Algerian players left no chance for their rivals from Côte d’Ivoire, by winning 3-1 thanks to the outstanding performance of Linda Legharibi, who defeated Liba Merial 3-1 (13-11, 10-12, 11-5 and 11-5) and Aka Sali Anji 3-1 (5-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-4), while Katia Kessassi beat Aka Anji 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 11- 8).

Meanwhile, the third team member, Melissa Naciri, was defeated by Rebecca Anouk 2-3 (11-5, 5-11, 9-11, 11-5 and 8-11).

In the semi-finals slated for this today, Sunday, the Algerian squad will face its Egyptian counterpart (the title holder) which is exempted from the quarter-finals.

Like their Egyptian counterparts, the Algerian women finished in first place of their group with a total of (4 points), after defeating Mauritius and Morocco with the same score (3-0).

As for the men, the Algerian national team qualified without effort for the golden square today, Sunday, after it eliminated Morocco with a score (3-0), thanks to: Sami Kharouf, Mahdi Boulosa and Larbi Bouryah.

In the semi-finals, the Algerian squad met its Tunisian counterpart, which was exempt from the quarter-finals after occupying the first place in the group with a total of 4 points.
